Description
John Adams: Portrait Attributed to John Singleton Copley. 25" x 30" oil on canvas, framed to an overall size of 30" x 35". It depicts the Founding Father in a green coat, within an oval. A metal plaque attached to the bottom of the frame reads: "John Adams./ John S. Copley/ 1737-1815". Overall craquelure, darkening of the varnish, scattered loss, old restoration to a small spot on the cheek, possibly cut down in size. Chipping and loss to the gesso. We cannot verify the attribution, but this seems worthy of a proper restoration. There's upside potential here.Auction Info
