Description
Martin Van Buren: Two Buttons. (1) MVB-1840-18, 21mm, brass with washed gold finish. Back reads, "Martin Van Buren Excelsior." The obverse is adorned with an attractive design. Shank remains at the back. (2) This 23mm brass button features a woman, assumedly Lady Liberty or Lady Justice. Scales hang from one hand, and a liberty cap appears to dangle on a pole in her other hand. An eagle is perched on a safe nearby. The shank is at the back, with the text "Ives Kendrick & Co. Extra."Condition: Expected wear throughout both buttons. MVB-1840-18 has a dark spot near the rim. The Ives Kendrick & Co. button has minor tarnish. Overall in fine condition.
