Description

Hawaiian King Kalakaua Sheet Music. Kalakaua was the last king of Hawaii, reigning from 1874 until his death in 1891. He had a friendly and good-tempered disposition. He liked entertaining and often sang and played the ukulele. He was responsible for bringing back the hula dance, which had been banned in the kingdom but has since become a symbol of Hawaiian culture and celebration. This rare sheet music, published in 1874 by M. Gray, is "Dedicated to King Kalakaua" and "Composed By Louis Bodecker." It is 10" x 13" disbound but complete with six pages and an applied real photo image on the cover with photo credit, "The Photograph is respectfully dedicated to His Majesty by Bradley & Rulofson." Light wear and creasing minor loss in field not interfering with content. Overall, very good condition.
