Civil War: Identification / Dog Tag of Jerome N. Kibbe 3rd Michigan Infantry. 28mm, brass. Civil War soldier's identification tag belonging to Jerome N. Kibbe. He enlisted on May 13, 1861 as a Private and was mustered into "I" Co. Michigan 3rd Infantry on June 10, 1861. He achieved promotions to Corporal and Sergeant. He was listed as disabled and was discharged with disability on November 9, 1862, at Falmouth, VA. Following numerous engagements, including Seven Days Battles, Second Battle of Bull Run, and the Battle of Chantilly, the 3rd Michigan Infantry was stationed in the defenses of Washington, D.C., before marching to Falmouth, Virginia, in late November 1862. It was during this period that Sergeant Kibbe was discharged due to disability.
