Description

Civil War: Identification / Dog Tag of Pvt. Charles Trump (Trumpp), 1st New York Cavalry. 30mm, white metal. Most Civil War tags were made in brass, white metal was softer and more prone to wear or damage, so fewer have survived in good condition. Trump (Trumpp) enlisted on August 21, 1861 at Philadelphia, PA as a Private. On the same day, he was mustered into "C" Co. New York 1st Cavalry. He re-enlisted on January 1, 1864 and mustered out as a Corporal on June 27, 1865 at Alexandria, VA. The regiment fought in key campaigns, including Antietam, Gettysburg, and the Shenandoah Valley.

Condition: Expected wear and tarnish, however still legible. Very good condition.
