WWII: "V-J Day in Times Square" Photograph Signed by George Mendonsa and Greta Zimmer. 11" x 14", no place; no date. The iconic photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt from the celebrations in New York City's Times Square on August 14, 1945, following the Victory over Japan Day. The satin-finish photograph is signed by the couple in blue felt-tip. Signed by Navy sailor George Mendonsa, "Times Square / V.J. Day 8/14/45 / USS the Sullivans 1942-1946 George Mendonsa" and dental hygienist Greta Zimmer Friedman, "Best wishes, / Greta Friedman."Condition: Excellent.
