Description

Women's Suffrage: Scarce November 1916 "Vote For Woman Suffrage" Felt Pennant. Felt campaign pennant, approx. 12" x 28" golden yellow with bold black lettering: "VOTE FOR WOMAN SUFFRAGE/ NOV. 1916." Retains its original black tie strings at the hoist. We have sold many suffrage pennants over the years but this is the first we've encountered this particular variant.

This pennant was produced for the woman suffrage referendum of November 1916, when several western states, including West Virginia, Iowa, South Dakota, and others, considered ballot measures on granting women the right to vote. While some measures failed in that election, such materials vividly illustrate the energy and organization of the suffrage movement in the years immediately preceding the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920.

Condition: Light expected wear, somewhat faded, with minor soiling; overall fine with intact ties.
