Abraham Lincoln: Appointment Signed. One page partially printed, 15" x 18 1/2", Washington, DC; July 13, 1861. Appointing Seth K. Devereux Customs Collector for the District of Penobscot, in the state of Maine. Countered signed by Secretary of the Treasury Salmon Chase.

Condition: Light toning, closed 2 1/2" tear at right lower corner, center fold. Signatures remain bold and vibrant, especially President Lincoln's.
