Description

Zachary Taylor: One of the Best Cloth Bandana Designs and in Superb Condition. It features a standing Taylor in a rather insouciant pose, with a battle map and troop formation in background. "General Z. Taylor Rough and Ready" below. This is one of the best Taylor bandana designs, arguably the nicest. Condition is outstanding overall, with several minor separations of little consequence in the right border. Colors are very strong and bold. Measures 31"x 25", nicely framed. Prices on Taylor bandannas fluctuate considerably, with Heritage auction prices as high as $20,315. In 2013 we sold an example of this same variety for $4,375, but the condition did not approach that of the present example, which we consider one of the finest Taylor textiles Heritage has handled. Pictured in Arthur Schlesinger, Jr.'s Running for President: The Candidates and Their Images 1789-1896, vol. 1, p. 203.
