Description

Abraham Lincoln: Signed Military Commission. 13.5" x 17.5" vellum document signed by Abraham Lincoln as President and Edwin M. Stanton as Secretary of War. Washington, D. C., August 1, 1864. It appoints Samuel R. Brown a Second Lieutenant in the Veteran Reserve Corps. Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 21" x 25.5".

Condition: Typical fading to the inscription which is light, but legible. Normal folds. The signatures are clear and sharply delineated.
