George Washington: Small Format Darby 15-Star Pattern Inaugural Button, Albert GW-18B/Cobb-15. While we have sold literally scores of George Washington Inaugural buttons over the years this is a surprising first time offering for us. An excessively rare 15mm cuff button identified by Harold Cobb as "the only one known" and "unique" when he acquired his example in 1958. Still, 65 years later we are aware of no other specimens in this size and so-called Darby 15-star pattern until now. Believed dated to Washington's second inauguration in 1793 when there were fifteen states. When are you ever likely to see another?Condition: An excavated example but with legible devices and original shank.
