Description
The Liberator: Anti-Slavery Newspaper with Coverage on the Fall of the Alamo. The Liberator. Boston, Massachusetts; Saturday, April 16, 1836. Vol. VI-No. 16. Four pages, 14.75" x 22.25". Paginated [61]-64 and printed in five columns. This famous anti-slavery newspaper was published by the prominent abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison. This issue contains back page headlines: "Important From Texas/ Capture of San Antonio and Destruction of the Garrison" with a long and very detailed account of the Fall Of The Alamo with the deaths of Davy Crockett, James Bowie, and William Travis, during the Texas War of Independence.Condition: Light toning and staining present. Integral fold has additional creasing and a few small tears. Old fold lines are visible and a crease runs through the center of the top edge and down into the column of text. Last page has some creasing and minimal loss along the edge. A handwritten name appears in the upper left corner on the front page, most likely in period ink.
