The original "Presidential Watch"
Harry S Truman: Personally Owned Vulcain Cricket Wrist Watch. Vulcain Cricket alarm wrist watch with perforated rubber strap. Inscribed on back cover "Vulcain Watch Co. - Swiss Stainless Steel Back 305005" along with patent dates. Currently not running. Information concerning this watch appears on the watch collector web site hodinkee.com. An article posted there on March 12, 2014 titled "Your Complete Guide to the Watches of United States Presidents" makes a passing reference: "In 1953 upon leaving office, the White House Press Corps gave President Truman a Vulcain Cricket. We don't know anything about the model or the present location of the watch." In the ensuing years, every president has owned a Vulcain Cricket, a tradition which has made it the "Presidential Watch". This, we believe, is the very watch referenced in the article.
