Description

Roosevelt & Fairbanks: Jugate Pocket Watch. Jugate portraits on the dial, with the slogan "Protection and Prosperity." This watch and its Parker-Davis mate were issued by the Ingersoll Company, and fall into a tradition of such items ranging from several different varieties of Civil War era Lincoln watches to rare jugates for Cox-Roosevelt and Harding-Coolidge in 1920. They were inexpensive watches at the time, falling into a category known by watch hobbyists as "dollar watches." Although there may be others in watch collectors' hands, we know of only several examples in the political item hobby. Although not currently running, this example has a near-mint display appearance.
