Description
Grumman 1963 "Manufacturing Plan for Project Apollo - Lunar Excursion Module LPL-850-1A" in Original Binder. This is the first time we have offered one of these important documents. Included in its original titled three ring binder, this report contains 200+ printed pages (one side only) of 8.5" x 11". Many of the pages are pull-out charts. There are approximately sixty illustrations. The title page indicates that this is the "Second Submittal - 14 October 1963 Prepared for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Manned Spacecraft Center" and that this is copy "152". The contents are divided into six sections: (1) Description and Implementation - LEM Manufacturing Plan; (2) Manufacturing Facilities; (3) Scheduling, Planning, Methods, and Controls; (4) Structural/ Mechanical, Fluid, and Electronic Subsystems; (5) Final Assembly; and (6) Manufacturing Test Program. The "Summary" reads, in part: "The 'LEM Manufacturing Plan' emphasizes a unified effort for the management, implementation, and control of all manufacturing phases... As stated throughout this plan, the primary goals of highest mission reliability, on-schedule performance, and lowest possible over-all costs have established the criteria for the evaluation and selection of all manufacturing procedures and techniques..."
