Description

Apollo 10 Command Module Flown Engraved Spoon Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot John Young. This 6" long Silco Stainless teaspoon is engraved on the handle, "CMP/ X". This utensil was used by Young aboard the Command Module Charlie Brown during the eight day lunar orbit mission, May 18-26, 1969. Apollo 10 tested equipment and procedures that would be utilized for the Apollo 11 lunar landing. NASA, for the first time ever, picked an all-veteran crew for this important mission; it was Stafford and Young's third space flight each, and Cernan's second. Excellent condition.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Certification from John Young stating: "I hereby certify that the Apollo X metal spoon that accompanies this letter, engraved CMP X, was flown with me to the moon and used aboard the mission May 18-26, 1969. It has been a part of my personal collection since the mission."
