Description
Neil Armstrong's Childhood Homework: Four Items, Two Signed. These may be some of the earliest pieces of written and drawn material from the first man to walk on the moon. They were found in the attic by the new owners of the Armstrong family home at 601 W. Benton Street in Wapakoneta, Ohio, after they bought it in 1964. Four separate items of approximately 9" x 12", as follows:(1) A water color painted flower with "MOTHER" in capital letters at top. Signed in pencil at lower right though much of the signature has chipped off.
(2) A pencil-drawn Christmas scene, partially painted in with water colors.
(3) A hand-colored map of South America with the names of the countries written in. Signed at lower right in pencil.
(4) A hand-colored map of the earth showing the temperature zones, with handwritten captions.
One wonders if the young Neil had any idea that he might be someday see the earth from a quarter of a million miles away when he was coloring these maps. A photocopy of the Warranty Deed for the home purchase and a Letter of Provenance will be included with this lot , both from the daughter of the family who bought the house from the Armstrongs. All in fair condition.
