Description
Colt Root Model 1855 Sidehammer Single Action Revolver.Serial no. 7389 [butt and base of barrel], .28 caliber, 3 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Blued finish. Etched cylinder scene. Case-hardened sidehammer and spur trigger. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Manufactured in 1856.
Condition: Good. Retaining traces of finish in protected areas, the balance a smooth grey patina with thinning to relief edges, handling wear and patches of pitting. Scuffs and dings present to wood, noticeable loss to base of grip in front of butt screw. Action needs adjustment, cylinder doesn't turn. Pitted bore.
