U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle.
Serial no. 142594, .45-70 caliber, 32 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued finish. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. SPRINGFIELD. Smooth hardwood full-body stock with two barrel bands, sling swivels and stacking swivel. Faint cartouche to left side of stock at wrist. 8 / 461 to right side of stock. 8 / NY / 947 to top of stock. U.S. marked metal butt.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina, with noticeable areas of wear and pitting. Heavy scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Action good. Strong bore.
