Description

Excavated Luristan Bronze Short Sword/Dagger.

Bronze, 17-inch blade, 21 1/2-inches overall. The blade and handle are integrally forged. This example displays a more ornate guard. The two-edged blade has a slight raised mid-rib and has a decorative interwoven pattern along with linguistic characters. A pleasing overall green patina on the surface. The original handle insets are long gone and the weapon is in complete, un-restored condition. The form is consistent with knives found in the Luristan Province of Iran.

Condition: Good, as excavated. Blade edge has some losses. Nice green patina with encrustation on the surface. Light surface rust is present. Pommel with color due to use. From the Collection of Jonathan Kern Sold to Benefit Charity
