Exceptional Casket-Cased Colt Model 1862 Conversion Revolver, Presentation Engraved to Frederick A. Hall, September, 1871.

Serial no. 29 [barrel, frame and butt], .38 caliber, 4 ½-inch barrel with single-line New York address. Conversion side ejector rod and housing. Blued finish. Fire-blued screws and trigger. Five-shot cylinder. Case-hardened wedge, hammer, conversion band [stamped: #30] and frame. Silver-plated triggerguard and gripstrap assembly. Backstrap inscribed: Fred'k A. Hall/With Compliments of Company/Sept. 1871. Varnished one-piece walnut grips. Contained together with an orange label period "picture box" of 50 .38-100 cartridges in a rare original purple velvet-lined, black leather covered "casket case" with embossed floral scroll decoration and molded edge lid. Brass hook lid fasteners.

Condition: Excellent to mint. Retaining approximately 90-95% finish with light wear to backstrap and some relief edges. Vibrant case-hardening. Triggerguard and gripstrap assembly with light age patina. Grips near mint with two minor blemishes on left grip. Action crisp. Box of cartridges opened but shrink-wrapped and showing minor wear. Case with fading to lining with light wear and scuffs to exterior.
