Description
Union of South Africa Flag From the Dr. Clarence Rungee Collection.Wool, multipiece construction with printed logo. 70 x 46-inches including the 2-inch hoist. Sold with a one-page typed letter on Union of South Africa letterhead, addressed to Dr. Rungee, and dated December 11, 1945. The letter reads, in full: "With reference to your letter of 22nd Nov. 1946, addressed to Field Marshal J. C. Smuts at Lake Success, New York and which was forwarded on to this office for necessary action, I have the honour to advise that a National Flag is being forwarded to you under separate cover." Also includes an inventory form from Rungee's Flag Heritage Foundation.
Condition: Light age toning, a few scattered small holes, tattered at the fly-end corners. Good condition.
