Description

Greek Order of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem Commanders Set. Made by G. Lamaitre, Paris. Comprising: 1.) Neck cross in silver, gilt and enamels. 46 x 111-mm (to the top of the crown), 1.51 ounces. 1 ¾-inch wide red moire silk neck ribbon. 2.) Breast star in silver, gilt and enamels. 84-mm. 2.16 ounces. Maker marked on the reverse. With wide pin and two hooks on the reverse for mounting. In the original case of issue with two of three lapel rosettes. From the estate of Božidar Puric (1891-1977), a Serbian and Yugoslav politician and diplomat. Between 1928 and 1934 he was chargé d' affaires in the Embassy of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in the United States and its ambassador in France in 1935. During World War II, Puric was the prime minister of the Yugoslav government-in-exile between August 10, 1943 and July 8, 1944.
