Description
Fitzgerald Special.
Colt Pre-Detective Special Model Double Action Revolver.Serial no. 273615 [frame and crane], .38 caliber, 2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Blued finish. Open "Fitz" triggerguard. Rampant Colt to left side of frame. Checkered walnut grip panels with inlaid Colt medallions.
Note: Fitz special was named after John Henry Fitzgerald, who preferred Colt revolvers and had very large hands, leading to the open triggerguard style.
Condition: Good. Retaining approximately 90-94% finish with thinning to relief edges, scattered handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Scuffs and dings present to wood, noticeable loss to base of left panel. Crisp action. Strong bore. Nelson A. Faerber Collection.
