Description
Johann Springer Hammer Large Bore Double Rifle.Numbered 2203 on swivel and buttplate. The bore measures approximately .630 in diameter. Rib is marked: J. SPRINGER VORM. NOWOTNY IN WIEN [in gold]. Right side lockplate under hammer engraved IN WIEN, left side lockplate under hammer engraved SPRINGER. The gun has individual single set triggers that are adjustable. Finely engraved throughout; game scene engraving with stag and doe in woodland setting on lockplate; Has doe attacking a wild boar on right side of frame and scenes of stag and doe on left side of frame and lockplate. Has doe attacking stag on trigger guard. Engraved hammers, upper tang and lever as well. Fine checkering present with engraved buttplate with bullet trap, marked NO. 2203 as well. Partial horn triggerguard.
Condition: Very good to fine, approximately 90-95% Damascus pattern on barrels and approximately 70-80% case-hardening present. Light wear to muzzle and fine scratches overall to finish. Also, some light scuffs, dings and mars to wood. Bores are strong and excellent. Action crisp.
