Description

Confederate States: St. Andrew's Pattern 2nd National Bible Flag.

11" x 14" display board showing the design evolution of the flags of the Confederate States of America [C. S. A.].
The top part has a Civil War-era slip of paper with ink sketches of the four basic designs adopted, along with their dates. The middle part has two printed fabric flags, 5" x 2" and 5.5" x 1.5" respectively, which we feel are post-war reunion pieces. The bottom piece is the true centerpiece, a period 6.5" x 4.25" hand-sewn silk Bible flag in the St. Andrew's or 2nd National pattern, adopted May 4, 1863. The flags appear to be held in place within acetate sleeves. Excellent.
