Description

Grumman 1966 Apollo LM Navigation, Guidance and Control System Requirements Manual, Originally Classified. Consists of fifty-six 8.5" x 11" numbered pages in the original Grumman binding, which includes a large pull-out chart. This internal Grumman/ NASA report was published by Ross Fleisig, in a very limited printing of fewer than forty copies to be circulated "Eyes Only" (owing to cold war "Space Race" concerns about the Soviets). Dr. Fleisig was the Project Leader for Space Trajectory, Guidance and Control Systems (the subject of the title). This was Dr. Fleisig's personal copy. Written in 1966, the report was originally Classified and bears the black markings of subsequent Declassified status. This is the only such copy known still to be in existence. The paper focuses on the problem of navigation and control during the landing phase of the mission, and then on rendezvous and docking with the Command Module after the Ascent Stage leaves the Lunar surface. Incredibly rare. Very fine condition. From the collection of scientist and author Charles Pellegrino.
