Description

High-Grade Non-Regulation Presentation Grade Staff and Field Officers' Sword.
A striking sword with ornate details featuring a 30 1/2-inch blade etched on either side with among other things, elaborate foliate scroll and a panoply of arms. Though there is no maker mark visible, the presence of French proof marks makes it almost certainly of French Klingenthal manufacture. The elaborate gilded hilt features an open work guard with panoplies of arms, foliate scroll and an eagle perched atop a shield. A folding counterguard is similarly decorated. Pommel features a striking face of a screaming Zeus. White sharkskin grip with wire wrapping. Nickel-plated scabbard with three highly detailed gilded brass mounts.

Condition: Excellent. The hilt retains the majority of the gilding. The sword has been respectfully preserved.
