Civil War: Two Massachusetts Cavalry Veterans' Badges.

Includes: 1) 1st Massachusetts Cavalry, pinback, gilded brass, 50 x 51 mm, mounted on a yellow silk ribbon. No maker's marks present. The 1st Massachusetts Cavalry seemed to be at every major engagement of the Civil War. To name but a few: Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Cedar Creek, Yellow Tavern, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor and Petersburg, among others. 2) 4th Massachusetts Cavalry badge, pinback, gilded brass, 46 x 84 mm, mounted on a yellow silk ribbon. No maker's marks present. The badge is a composite of the 10th, 18th, 24th and 25th Army Corps. The 4th Massachusetts Cavalry notably fought at the battles of Petersburg, Gainesville, Appomattox, and the Battle of Appomattox Court Houses.

Condition: 1) Excellent. 2) Some loss to gilt and the ribbon is significantly frayed.
