Tom Mix made his first movie in 1909 and fought villains and rescued damsels in distress in 400 others until he retired in 1940. He then joined the Sells Floto Circus and next formed his own Tom Mix Circus and Wild West Show, touring for three years. Killed in an automobile accident while driving his Cord Phaeton near Florence Arizona. A statue of a rider-less pony marks the spot.
