Description
U.S. Martially Marked Colt 1860 Army Model Percussion Revolver.Serial no. 42806 [frame, barrel, triggerguard and butt] and 5459 [cylinder], , 44-40 caliber, 8-inch barrel with New York address and fixed front sight. Cut for shoulder stock. Originally blued and case-hardened finish. Top of barrel reads ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. Originally etched cylinder scene. COLTS / PATENT to left side of frame. Multiple inspector marks: S on top of backstrap, T / B on one side of the barrel lug area, T on other. S behind triggerguard. Brass triggerguard, Iron backstrap. Smooth walnut one-piece grip with cartouche on left side. Left grip carved with letters B / P, right side A / F / T. This 1860 Army was manufactured in 1862.
Condition: Fair, no original finish remains. Appears to have been over-cleaned at some point, with pitting present throughout. Most markings visible but faint. Cartouche on grips clear. Grips with aftermarket carvings described above, some dents and bumps with loss to heel. Action works but not as it should. Will hold and turn cylinder with timing issues. Bore dark.
