Description
Colt Model 1860 Fluted Army Percussion Revolver.Serial no. 2139 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt], .44 caliber, 8-inch barrel with fixed front sight. Blued finish. Top of barrel marked: ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT. Case-hardened four screw frame, hammer and lever. COLTS / PATENT stamped to left side of frame. Fluted cylinder marked: PATENTED SEPT. 10TH 1850. Silver-plated brass triggerguard. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Butt cut for shoulder stock. Manufactured in 1861. Note: Fluted cylinder examples did not have cylinder decorations, also found in the serial number range of 3 to approximately 8,000. The fluted cylinder Army was referred to in the factory records as the "cavalry" model [see The Book of Colt Firearms by RL Wilson, pages 161-163 for more information].
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a mottled grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear, age and patches of pitting. Noticeable scuffs and dings present to wood. Action tight, but functions. Moderately pitted bore.
