Description

Stag Horn Handled Bowie Knife Attributed to Huber with Scabbard.

14 1/4-inches overall. A 9 1/8-inch single edge spearpoint style blade, unmarked. German silver flat crossguard. One piece round stag antler handle with a flat German silver pommel cap. Circa 1830-40's. Please note: According to consignor notes; he believes this knife to be a Huber, or at least the blade construction. If we are talking about Henry Huber Jr. who operated out of Philadelphia, he has been credited as one-half of the first American smiths to produce a compelling and proper clip-point Bowie. Worth researching more.

Condition: Good to very good as configured. Blade has been cleaned and sharpened. Pitting spots present. Handle and mounts very good with a slight patina present, light pitting marks. Leather scabbard stiff and with minor scuffs, mars present. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
