W. Butcher Sheffield "Dog Bone" Style Bowie Knife with Sheath.

Having a 8 3/4-inch clip-point blade with Spanish notch. Ricasso marked: W (crown) R / W. BUTCHER / SHEFFIELD. Dark wooden handle fastened by four pins. Large rectangle escutcheon to each panel. German silver mounts. Contained in associated lightly tooled leather scabbard.14-inches in overall length [out of scabbard].
Note: W.R. and [crown] Royal cipher fabrication attributed to reign of King William the IV.

Condition: Good. Overall showing signs of handling wear, age and patches of pitting. Noticeable wood loss to one panel. Scattered cracking and thread loss present to leather. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
