Description
Civil War Corps Badge of Captain Nathaniel Ellmaker, U.S. Volunteers Commissary Department.1 1/2 x 1 1/2-inches. Blue enamel on a German-silver backing. Small gold shield mounted in the center of the cross, engraved "Nathaniel Ellmaker / Capt. & Com. Subsistance / USV". Pin back with hook catch. No maker's marks. Nathaniel Ellmaker enlisted on September 19, 1861 and was immediately commissioned into the Commissary Department. He resigned on February 20, 1865. A beautiful corps badge of the Third Division of the Sixth Army Corps.
Condition: Very good. Some crazing and minor loss to the enamel.
