Texas Schmidt & Kosse Percussion Half-Stock Rifle.

Unserialized, approximately .41 caliber, 38-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Top of barrel marked: SCHMIDT & KOSSE / HOUSTON TEX. Scroll engraved lock with fowl scene stamped: GOULCHER. Scroll engraved hammer. Smooth hardwood half-stock. Decorative eagle inlaid to cheekrest on let side of stock. Brass triggerguard and crescent buttplate. Wood ram rod.
Note: Schmidt & Kosse operated from 1838 to 1872, at 75 Main Street in Houston, Texas.

Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a brownish grey patina with noticeable areas of handling wear, age and pitting. Scattered scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bore. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
