U.S. D. Nippes 1839 Contract Philadelphia Flintlock Rifle.

Unserialized, .69 caliber, 42-inch barrel with bayonet lug and fixed front sight. Top of barrel stamped: US / JCS / P. Lock marked: 1839 and U.S. / D. NIPPES / PHILA. Brass flash guard. Smooth hardwood stock with three barrel bands and two sling swivels. Faint cartouche to left side of stock. Metal ramrod and buttplate (stamped US).
According to consignor notes, flintlock came from the North and Gluckman collection and acquired from Greg Martin auctions.

Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Noticeable scuffs and dings present to wood. Crack to each side of stock at buttplate. Action good. Moderately pitted bore. From the Sylver Schaller Collection.
