Colt Model 1862 Pocket Navy Richards-Mason Conversion Revolver.

Serial no. 261 [barrel, frame, triggerguard and butt] and 761 [cylinder], .36 caliber, 4 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front brass sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Top of barrel marked: ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. Etched cylinder scene. Brass gripstraps. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Manufactured in 1861.
The Richards-Mason conversion is named after two Colt employees, Charles Richards and William Mason, who developed this conversion method for Colt's percussion revolvers.

Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with honest age, handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Scattered dings, scuffs and bruising present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bore. From the Collection of James Schubert.
