An Exhibition George Wostenholm and Sons IXL Bowie Knife.

Overall length is 17 1/2-inches without scabbard. 1 5/8-inches at its widest point. Exhibition quality spear point bowie knife marked on blade GEO WOSTENHOLM & SONS I*XL WASHINGTON WORKS / CELEBRATED HUNTING KNIFE SHEFFIELD. Blade measures 11 1/2-inches. Fancy etched blade with floral pattern down the center of one side, elaborate guard fashioned in an elite design resembling textured [grooves] leaves. Tortoiseshell handle. German silver mounted leather scabbard with large button hangar. Scabbard measures approximately 15-inches. Please note: previously sold in a James Julia Auction, 2005. According to consignor notes, this particular knife has been in several major collections.

Condition: Good to very good. Blade appears to have been cleaned. Guard needs adjusting. Handle with moderate stress cracks, concentrating near pins. Significant loss to top of handle. Scabbard with various scuffs and marks. 1-inch loss near bottom. Bent mount tip. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
