Description
Colt 1849 Pocket Model Percussion Revolver with Leather Holster.Serial no. 189862 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt], .31 caliber, 4-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Top of barrel marked: ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. COLT'S / PATENT to left side of frame. Etched cylinder scene. Brass gripstraps. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. This Colt was manufactured in 1861. Contained in unmarked leather holster of the period.
Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of finish, the balance a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Some vibrant case-colors remaining. Scuffs and dings present to wood. Action tight, but functions. Strong bore. Leather showing some cracking and discoloration.
