Description
London Marked Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver.Serial no. 9753 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt, wedge not removed], .31 caliber, 4-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight. Top of barrel two-line reads ADDRESS COL COLT / LONDON. J T Engraved on right side of barrel above wedge. Blued and case-hardened finish. COLTS / PATENT stamped to left side of frame. M marking to left side of triggerguard near frame. Numerous British proofs present. Steel backstrap and triggerguard. Smooth dark walnut one-piece grip. Manufactured in 1856.
Condition: Fine; a good 90% thinning finish present; balance turning grey with signs of handling wear, age and faint pitting to certain areas. Steel strap at bottom of grips, exposed, cleaned and buffed due to previous signs of pitting. Good amount of varnish on grips, with minor wear mostly to bottom section with added scratches and dings; marred screws. Action functions. Good bore. From the Collection of Oran B. Jolley.
