Colt Single Action Army Frontier Six Shooter Revolver with Factory Letter.

Serial no. 302618 [frame, triggerguard and butt], .44-40 caliber, 4 3/4-inch barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rea sight. Nickel-plated finish. Left side of barrel stamped: COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER. Two-line, three date patent and Rampant Colt logo to left side of frame. Mold injected grip panels, with carved eagle to right panel. Manufactured in 1908. Contained in an unmarked leather holster. Sold along with factory letter dated February 26, 2007. Letter confirms serial number, barrel length and caliber; also states that the finish was originally blue. Colt was shipped to Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri on January 18, 1908. The Simmons Hardware Company was a major hardware wholesaler based in St. Louis, Missouri, that operated from the mid-19th century into the early 20th century. The company was widely known for distributing knives, firearms, tools, cutlery, and general hardware under various brand names.

Condition: Good as refinished. Retaining approximately 80-85% finish with noticeable thinning to cylinder, light handling wear and very fine spots of pitting. Faint barrel address. Noticeable loss to grip panels at lower corners. Action good. Strong bore. Some staining and storage wear present to leather.
