Description
Factory Engraved Merwin, Hulbert & Company Pocket Army Single Action Revolver.Serial no. 2740 on Bird's-head [with assembly numbers 3081 markings on left side under grips, back of cylinder and barrel lug], 3 1/4-inch barrel, .44-40 caliber. Nickel-plated finish with Mother of Pearl grips and Bird's-head butt. Case-hardened hammer and triggerguard. Factory punch dot engraving throughout including a large cat on the left side. Monogram with GBE appears on top of backstrap. Right side of frame marked MERWIN, HULBERT & CO. N.Y. / POCKET ARMY. Right side CALIBRE 1873 / WINCHESTER.
Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 40-50% finish with the balance flaking and scattered pitting. Case colors on hammer and triggerguard visible at 10-15%. Most losses to finish appear on cylinder and barrel. Traces of gold-wash to cylinder. Pearl grips excellent. A few marred screws. Action good. Bore ok with light pitting.
