Description
Cased Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver.Serial no. 100482 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt], .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Blued and case-hardened finish. Top of barrel marked: ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD. Left side of frame stamped: COLT'S / PATENT. Brass gripstraps. Smooth walnut one-piece grip panel. Manufactured in 1861. Contained in wooden display case with brass capper, nipple wrench, bullet mold, powder flask and cap tin. The Colt 1851 Navy Revolver is one of the most famous and widely used black powder revolvers of the 19th century. Designed by Samuel Colt and introduced in 1851, this cap-and-ball revolver became a favorite among soldiers, lawmen, outlaws, and frontiersmen, earning a legendary status in American and world history.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with thinning to relief edges, honest handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Dings and scuffs present to wood. Action tight, but functions. Lightly pitted bore. Display case showing some storage wear and felt staining.
