Engraved Colt Model 1862 Police Single Action Revolver.

Serial no. 20809 [barrel, frame, triggerguard and butt] and 0809 [wedge], .36 caliber, 5 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight. Top of barrel marked: ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. Elaborately scroll engraved barrel, frame, hammer, triggerguard, backstrap and butt. Fluted cylinder. COLTS / PATENT stamped to left side of frame. Brass gripstraps. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Manufactured in 1863. The Colt Model 1862 Police revolver is a distinguished percussion firearm from the Civil War era, celebrated for its refined design and historical significance. Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of finish in protected areas, the balance a smooth grey patina with honest signs of handling wear, age and fine patches of pitting. Scattered dings and scuffs present to wood. Action tight, but functions. Strong bore. ?
