U.S. Civil War Colt 1861 Percussion Musket.

Serial no. 1740 [right side of barrel], .58 caliber, 39 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Top of barrel marked: 1861 and V / P / (eagle head). Lock stamped: 1861 and U.S. / COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD CT. Smooth hardwood straight stock with sling swivels. Cartouche to left side of stock. Three barrel bands, each stamped: U. Metal ramrod, triggerguard and U.S. carbine butt.

Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a bright grey patina with noticeable wear and patches of pitting. Few scattered scuffs present to wood. Action good. Strong bore.
