Description
Cased Pair of Percussion Pistols by James Wilkinson & Son London. Comprising of a pair of .50 caliber, 5-inch damascus octagonal barrels with top flats marked: JAS WILKINSON & SON, PALL MALL LONDON. German silver ball front sights. Finely floral-engraved barrel tangs, breeches, hammers and locks which are marked: JAS WILKINSON & SON. Sliding safeties. Fine checkered English walnut stocks with steel furniture including engraved trigger guards. Trapped, swivel ramrods and steel belt hooks. Actions are tight and crisp. Contained in a felt-lined walnut pistol case with brass hardware, including a flush-mounted semi-circular handle. Centered on the lid is an engraved, inset disk, on which is engraved a coat-of-arms and: A. McNEILE JULY 1842. Sold together with set of accessories including bullet mold, nipple wrench, screw-driver, powder flask, ramrod and later tin of Remington percussion caps.Condition: Fine. Retaining approximately 80-90% original finish, thinning, and with light highpoint edge wear. Stock also fine with 90% original varnish and scattered minor dents. Case good exhibiting a crack on the lid, chip on front lower edge and a break on one interior corner. Felt excellent with minor rubs only, bright color. Accessories excellent, bag flask retaining approximatley 90% original lacquer, mold with most of its original thinning blue, ebony-handled cleaning rod, screw-driver and nipple wrench displaying minor use.
