Description
Ornate Dha with Silvered Hilt and Bone Scabbard.A finely decorated dha, measuring 10-inches overall with a 6-inch blade. The blade is forged with a slightly raised medial ridge running from tip to hilt on both sides, rather than being flat, and features an engraved ricasso with tribal design. The hilt is of typical cylindrical form, silvered over what is likely a steel core, and worked in an engraved repoussé style. Two gold gilt-plated bands accent the grip, providing contrast against the silvered surface. The guard is likewise silvered and ornamented in keeping with the hilt. The scabbard is constructed of bone from what is exposed with silvered and chased mountings, completing a piece that balances artistry and function. Contained in a customized display case.
Condition: Very good overall. The blade shows expected peppering from age but retains crisp form. Areas of tarnish and toning to the silvered surfaces, with attractive patina. The bone scabbard shows pleasing age coloration and some light handling wear.
