August Francotte Sliding Safely Flintlock Pistol with Folding Bayonet.
Serial no. I 824, approximately .70 caliber, 5 1/2-inch octagonal brass barrel with flip-up folding bayonet. Box lock action with engraved side panels. Right side of breech with [crown]/AF, the mark of August Francotte c1840. Steel ram rod in brass retainers. Bottom of breech marked: 32 IM. Carved and fine checkered walnut grips. August Francotte is better known for percussion firearms making this possibly a very early example of his work.

Condition: Very good. Mellow patina to brass. Engraving remains sharp. Bayonet functions. Hammer will not stop at full cock. Trigger does not release the hammer. Grips fine with light soiling.
