Description
U.S. Model 1861 Contract C.D. Schubarth 1863 Dated Percussion Musket.Unserialized, .58 caliber, 39-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Top of barrel marked: V / P / (eagle head). Lock marked: 1863, (eagle) and U.S. / SCHUBARTH / PROVIDENCE. Smooth walnut straight stock with sling swivels and leather shoulder sling. Three barrel bands, each stamped: U. Two cartouches to left side of stock. Only 9,500 manufactured.
Condition: Excellent. Overall showing some scattered handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Action good. Bright bore.
